If you prefer to use makeup spatula for applying foundation rather than a beautyblender, there is nothing inherently unsafe about that choice. However, as with any cosmetics application tool, here are some general precautions to keep in mind for safe and hygienic use of makeup spatula:

Precautions for using makeup spatula for foundation

  1. Cleanliness: Before each use, clean your spatula thoroughly with mild soap and warm water to prevent contamination from old product buildup or germs. You may also want to wipe down the surface where you store your makeup brushes to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Consider using rubbing alcohol or an antibacterial cleaner specifically designed for these types of products as necessary. Different tools may require varying levels of sanitization depending on their material composition and how frequently they come into contact with bare skin. Always check instructions provided by manufacturers regarding recommended cleaning procedures for specific items.

  2. Appropriateness of Product Compatibility: Ensure spongy applicators have soft edges to blend without harsh dragging motions, suitable for thicker medium coverage formulations (such as cushion compact crushed powders or creams) but less effective for fluid/liquid textures. In comparison, denser synthetic bristled brushes can help sheer out streaks better for serum-like finishes or provide controlled strokes across delicate areas like undereye corners. Sponge-based applicators alone struggle dispensing enough product compared to dense foam wedges which retain adequate pigment volume yet need thorough shaking before initial use.

They're less ideal picks overall since more effortful packing is required during purchase, travel transport becomes harder due to their dimensions, plus there's an increased likelihood of overapplying a formula in sections from clumps building up in narrow base slits.

It's generally simpler to stick with standard rounded domes or flatter designs instead of unique contoured surfaces without sacrificing much efficacy elsewhere. Be conscious of limitations and benefits tied to each alternative option compared to a basic dome texture. Some innovative options exist (e.g., stippling sponge with ridged exterior for enhanced precision)
